Minimum weight spanning trees of weighted scale free networks
نویسنده
چکیده
In this lecture we will consider the minimum weight spanning tree (MST) problem, i.e., one of the simplest and most vital combinatorial optimization problems. We will discuss a particular greedy algorithm that allows to compute a MST for undirected weighted graphs, namely Kruskal’s algorithm, and we will study the structure of MSTs obtained for weighted scale free random graphs. This is meant to clarify whether the structure of MSTs is sensitive to correlations between edge weights and topology of the underlying scale free graphs. The lecture is supplemented by a set of Python scripts that allow you to reproduce figures 4 and 5 shown in the course of the lecture. The supplementary material can be obtained from the MCS homepage (see Ref. [1]).

Scale-Free properties of weighted random graphs: Minimum Spanning Trees and Percolation
We study Erdös-Rényi random graphs with random weights associated with each link. In our approach, nodes connected by links having weights below the percolation threshold form clusters, and each cluster merges into a single node, thus generating a new “clusters network”. We show that this network is scale-free with λ = 2.5. Furthermore, we show that optimization causes the percolation threshold...

The source and target reliability in SAT network is de- fined as the flawless transmission from the source node to all the other nodes. In some references, the SAT pro- cess has been followed between all the node pairs but it is very time-consuming in today’s widespread networks and involves many costs. In this article, a method has been proposed to compare the reliability in complex networks b...

متن کاملMinimum spanning trees of weighted scale-free networks
– A complete characterization of real networks requires us to understand the consequences of the uneven interaction strengths between a system’s components. Here we use minimum spanning trees (MSTs) to explore the effect of correlations between link weights and network topology on scale-free networks. Solely by changing the nature of the correlations between weights and network topology, the st...
متن کاملSpectra of weighted scale-free networks
Much information about the structure and dynamics of a network is encoded in the eigenvalues of its transition matrix. In this paper, we present a first study on the transition matrix of a family of weight driven networks, whose degree, strength, and edge weight obey power-law distributions, as observed in diverse real networks. We analytically obtain all the eigenvalues, as well as their multi...
